Coach / Master Coach NLP
Coach / Master Coach Curriculum - EANLP
The EANLP Coach and Master Coach programs prepare participants to apply NLP in a professional coaching context, integrating personal development, ethics, and practical tools.
The training requires a Practitioner certificate for the Coach level and a Master Practitioner certificate for the Master Coach level, alongside higher education and a minimum age of 25. It includes at least 144 hours of training over 18 days, a final thesis, and supervision.

NLP Coach
At this time, the association does not offer direct training programs for Coach or Master Coach certification.
A list of certified trainers with the competence to offer Coach/Master Coach training can be found under EANLP Master Trainers.
EANLP Coach / Master Coach Curriculum
Participation Requirements
  • Certificate of completion for an NLP-Practitioner EANLP training or equivalent (for Coach EANLP)
  • Certificate of completion for an NLP-Master EANLP training or equivalent (for Master Coach EANLP)
  • NLP-Master certification may take place before, during, or after the Coach training
  • Emotional stability
  • Higher education degree or enrollment in the final year of studies
  • Minimum age at certification: 25 years
  • Technical equipment for online participation
Trainer Qualification
  • EANLP Master Trainer or equivalent, with certified competence to train Coaches
Trainer Requirements
  • Prior to the training, the training project, including all informational and promotional materials, must be submitted to EANLP for approval
  • Trainers must also submit their qualification documents for review and approval before the training begins
  • Trainers will receive a written response within 14 days
Duration
  • Minimum required training duration: 144 hours or more, including testing, delivered over 18 or more training days
  • After testing, at least 15 hours of individual or group supervision are required, conducted by a certified EANLP trainer with competence in Coach training
  • A minimum of 40 hours of peer group supervision and/or intervision is recommended throughout the course
Implementation
  • The training must be designed and led by at least two certified EANLP trainers with competence in Coach training, who work jointly or alternately
  • Recommendation: The two trainers should represent different NLP institutes
  • At least 80% of the training must be conducted by a certified NLP lead trainer
  • Up to 20% may be conducted by another person under the supervision of a certified EANLP Master Trainer
  • Up to one-third of the required minimum training hours may be conducted as synchronous online instruction (excluding supervision/intervision in peer groups)
  • Prerequisite for online training: Continuous participation of all attendees via video and audio, with the ability to see, hear, and interact with one another
Group Size
  • A training group must consist of at least six (6) participants
Assistant Support
  • An assistant with at least Coach EANLP certification or equivalent is recommended for every nine participants and mandatory for every twelve
  • If synchronous online instruction is used in a blended or hybrid format, assistants must have adequate digital competence to provide technical support or intervene if needed
Core Curriculum Structure
The Coach training content is divided into five areas:
  1. The Core Attitude of a Coach

  3. Creating the Right Framework for the Coaching Process
  4. Methodological Competence
  5. Supervision
1. The Core Attitude of an EANLP Coach
  • Reflection on one's personal worldview and philosophy of life
  • Development of personal attitude and integrity as a coach
  • Ethical action (e.g., based on the EANLP Code of Ethics)
  • Recognising and understanding individual world models and their dynamics
  • Working from systemic and constructionist perspectives
  • Understanding the mission and role of a coach
2. Marketing
  • Client acquisition
  • Defining one’s unique coach profile
  • Developing a personal coaching concept
3. Creating the Framework for Coaching
  • Establishing the coach–coachee relationship
  • Creating the coaching setting (Setting Management)
  • Clarifying client concerns and requests
  • Designing a tailored coaching offer
  • Identifying and addressing “trap requests” (e.g., hidden agendas)
  • Managing multiple perspectives when the client and the sponsor are not the same (e.g., sponsor, client, coach)
  • Generating and pursuing motivating, value-based coaching goals
  • Creating an emotionally relevant atmosphere for the coachee
4. Methodological Competence
  • The art of asking questions: systemic, solution-focused, skillful use of explicit and implicit (hypnotic) questions
  • Materials and tools to structure the coaching process systemically: figures, objects, cards, etc.
  • Individual analysis, resource generation, and resource management
  • Flexibility across content, relationship, and process levels
  • Professional use of implicit process information (spatial and relational): posture, seating style, room positioning
  • Mastery of direct and indirect communication, oriented toward the coachee's desired outcomes
  • Developing and assigning impactful (home) tasks for client growth
  • Competent handling of transference, countertransference, and recursive patterns
  • Foundational knowledge of the neurobiological basis of change
  • Awareness of coaching models and methods from the following areas:
    • Transactional Analysis
    • Nonviolent Communication
    • Family Constellations
    • Hypnotherapy
    • Constructivist Interventions
    • Systemic Interventions
    • Kinesiology
    • Conflict Management
    • Mediation

5. Supervision
  • Supervision of case documentation
  • Coach supervision: reflecting on personal thought and behaviour patterns
Final Thesis
The final thesis includes three sections:
  • The participant's personal Coach Profile
  • Their individual Coaching Concept
  • Three case studies, documented in writing and/or video
  • Each section receives qualitative, in-depth feedback from certified trainers with Coach competence
  • The format and plan of the thesis must be agreed upon in writing with the certified coaching trainers
Coach EANLP Certification Criteria
To receive the Coach EANLP certificate, the following conditions must be met:
  • The individual is suited to the profession of coaching
  • Successful completion of the Coach training, including thesis presentation
  • Commitment to follow the EANLP Code of Ethics
  • Completion of higher education or enrollment in the final year
  • NLP-Practitioner certification (EANLP or equivalent)
  • Minimum age of 25 years at certification
Master Coach EANLP Certification Criteria
To receive the Master Coach EANLP certificate, the following conditions must be met:
  • The individual is suited to the profession of coaching
  • Successful completion of the Coach training, including thesis presentation
  • Commitment to the EANLP Code of Ethics
  • Certification as NLP-Practitioner and NLP-Master (EANLP or equivalent)
  • Master NLP training may take place before, during, or after the Coach training
  • Certification as Master Coach EANLP is granted by certified EANLP trainers with Coach competence
  • Completion of higher education or enrollment in the final year
  • Minimum age of 25 years at certification
EANLP Coach / Master Coach Certificate Content
The NLP Coach / Master Coach EANLP certificate must include the following:
  1. Statement of compliance with EANLP standards
  2. EANLP Quality Seal – Coach / Master Coach
  3. Duration of training in days and hours, specifying online and in-person hours
  4. Calendar dates of the first and last day of training
  5. Signatures of the certified EANLP trainers with Coach training competence
  6. Title: Coach EANLP / Master Coach EANLP
Recognition Criteria for Coach Trainers (EANLP)
To be recognised as a certified EANLP trainer with Coach training competence, the following criteria must be met:
  • Certified EANLP Master Trainer (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience
  • 500 hours of training experience since certification as Master Trainer, properly documented
  • At least 3 certified NLP-Practitioner trainings, properly documented
  • Recognised as EANLP Master Coach or equivalent for at least 3 years
  • Three years of professional coaching experience with at least 150 documented coaching hours, verified using Form 2003-C1, and supported by 3 case references using Form 2003-C2. One case must be at least 3 years old
  • At least one assistant role in a Coach EANLP training or EANLP professional seminar
